Below you will find a list of local and pet friendly restaurants, as well as the nearby parks where you can enjoy snowshoeing, cross country skiing or hiking with your dog. If you are planning to stay at Cedar Glen Lodge, please call us in advance to ensure that we have accommodations available. Additionally, we charge a $30 cleaning fee upon check in. Dog Friendly Parks Lake Tahoe
Skylandia State Park & Beach – North Lake Tahoe
On the West Shore, near Tahoe City, Skylandia Park is not as busy as most local parks, which means you and your pet can enjoy the uncrowded beaches. During the fall, the dogs can run without a leash, but in summer, they must be leashed. The best time of day to visit is after 5pm when you can park for free and the beaches are empty.

Patton Beach – North Lake Tahoe
Near to Garwood’s Restaurant in Carnelian Bay, Patton Beach is a somewhat smaller beach area with picnic tables, restrooms and areas where you can enjoy a nature walk. During the summer, the beach is not that crowded and does allow dogs to be off-leash. Of course, you want to ensure your pup plays nice and clean up after them. The beach here is is a bit more rocky than the beach area nearer to Garwoods, so be sure to wear your water shoes.

Carnelian West Beach – North Lake Tahoe
The Carnelian West beach is nearer to Garwoods in Carnelian Bay, and has free parking. Unlike Patton Beach, which is a bit more rocky, the West Beach is wider and also has public restrooms. Dogs must be on a leash however, but you can find barbecues and picnic tables right on the water’s edge.

Dog Friendly Parks Lake Tahoe
North Tahoe Park
Located in Tahoe Vista right behind Cedar Glen Lodge, this is the perfect hiking place for your pet because of the endless trails. This is also a great park for winter activities such as cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. In the summer, two separate fenced enclosures allow unleashed activity for small and large dogs as well as a one-acre play area for dogs of all sizes called ‘The Outback’. In the Fall of 2017, Dog Day in the Park donated an additional $8000 to purchase dog agility equipment including and “up and over” bridge walk, crawl tube, adjustable jumps, fire hydrants, and a ring jump.

Tahoe XC Ski Park – Tahoe City
Dogs will enjoy joining you on the cross country ski trails in winter or for hikes during the summer on the endless trails at Tahoe XC. There is a large reservoir that used to be the old “Ice House” which still has some of the old building still in place. You will find many green runs during winter where dogs can be off-leash while you ski.
